Our Management
Rich
Bramante has been involved in the concrete industry for over 30 years.
He purchase J. & B. construction in 1979. After a 28 year career
running the concrete company he sold the assets of the business to Van
Midde & Son concrete in 2006. The crew that had worked for the
company went to work for Van Midde & Son and brought their
experience to add to list of finishes they did. Rich was born in San
Francisco and went to Abraham Lincoln High School. After graduation he
went to work as a butcher and was the youngest journeyman butcher in
the union at 17 and half. He spent 10 years in the business and then
went to work for Scomas. Richs' father had also worked for Scomas as
their fish buyer. The Bramante family had been involved in the
commercial fishing business for years so they put that expertise buying
the fish for Scomas, one of the finest seafoods restaurants in San
Francisco. Richs' position was also the buyer of seafood and also he
was the head buyer of all the supplies for the company. This experience
helped him to run J. & B. construction. With all the experience he
had working with suppliers he was able to buy materials for his company
and get the best price possible. This value he was able to use in
giving the best price to his customers. The reputation of J. & B.
construction was one of the best Pool patio builders in the county. The
speciality was seeded exposed aggregate and his trademark was the
kidney shaped dividers made of bender board or plastic. Hundreds of
driveways and patios in Marin have this unique feature. The crew of J.
& B. became a welcome addition, bringing their seeded exposed
techniques into Van Midde & Son and making their patios and
driveways some of the best around. Rich has been able to spend more
time with his wife and kids and grandchildren now. He still has the
itch to stay involved in the business, thats why its not unusual to
find him down at the office of Van Midde & Son every morning with
his fresh cup of coffee from Muffin Mania. Rich offers his years of
experience to Ted and Scott each morning. Telling them stories of all
the jobs he has done and the interesting customers he has worked for.
This atmosphere in the office helps everyones day get started right. If
you are lucky, Rich might just show up to bid your job, driving the
Green Prius, concrete is green.
Scott Foster has been a part of the Van Midde & Son concrete team for over 9 years. Scott started working for Ted in 2000. His first big job was the Nicasio school, which we did the foundation slabs for the new classrooms and gym. School projects are tough because they have critical time schedules and inspections. He made it through with flying colors and everything else has been a breeze. Scott has become an expert in colors and finishes. He can recommend what colors will work best for your concrete or paver job. Scott also has lots of experience recommending layouts for backyards and front yards. Working with landscape architects and designers, he has ideas that help with form and function. Scott has known Ted lll since they were 5 years old. They grew up together in Woodacre and went all the way through high school together. Scott went to work for his uncle in the produce business right out of high school. He went on to manage the business for his uncle. After working in the produce business for 20 years Scott wanted to try something different. Ted and Scott were on vacation with their families in Tahoe during Christmas when Ted made him an offer he couldn't refuse. The boyhood friends would now be reunited together in Van Midde & Son concrete. It has been great having Scott in the company. Trust is never something that can be taken for granted and Ted has been able to trust Scott with every job he has been given. Scott has worked in the field with the me n learning first hand the art of concrete construction. The only way to teach someone is to know how to do it yourself and Scott can safely say that he has it mastered. Knowing how to do the job has made it easier for him to transition to the office where he has been now for quite a few years. If you need an estimate chances are Scott will be the one you see, especially if you live in the Novato area. Scott and his family have called Novato home for almost 25 years. Scott is active with his youngest son Sam in baseball and other youth sports in the area. Scott is also a big outdoorsman. He loves to fish and hunt, having been taught the sport by his father Enos, a lifelong Marin native. Experience and a great sense of humor is what Scott brings to every job. He will make a nervous customer feel safe that they made the right decision in choosing Van Midde & Son concrete.
